Well you have to go to your City’s housing and find out if the property is in probate. If not your city may be auctioning the property off. Is the property an abated home? If it is some cities have a program that will allow you to repair the property, live in it, and in a set period the property will be deeded to you. Also is there a mortgage on the home? If there is the bank actually owns it and they will sell the home. The best thing for you to do is to contact the city that the home is in, ask the housing department if it is available to purchase or for you to own it. That way you don’t spin your wheels.
