How can I best protect the Macros in an Excel spreadsheet?

I was wondering how the macros in an Excel spreadsheet can be protected from users tampering with them. There is the option of adding a password to the spreadsheet but that can be cracked very easily. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The target version is Excel 2003.
