How can i become confident in showjumping?
Don’t worry about whether people are talking about you or not. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that you KNOW you know how to get around-you do it every day at home right? Forget what other people think. Just go out, give yourself a goal, and try to meet that goal. The goal can be as simple as “I am going to jump around the course and remember all the jumps.” or “I am going to keep a steady pace, no matter what”. When you make your goal for yourself, make sure you make it a positive goal. By that I mean, tell yourself “I will jump at a steady pace”. Do not think “I will not go fast”. Forget the words “not”, and “don’t” and “can’t”. HOW you think of things makes a big difference. If you think “I won’t look down at jump 5” your brain doesn’t hear the word “won’t”. It will only hear “I will look down at jump 5”. Instead, think “I will look up when I’m coming to and going over jump 5”. Give yourself a goal, an easy one you can meet.
