How can I become a real estate agent in Costa Rica?
Not entirely sure, but I’m willing to bet you have two hurdles (at least): 1. In order to sell Costa Rica real estate, you’ll need a license of some sort that is valid in Costa Rica. Let’s assume for the time being that all you have to do is fill out a simple form and pay $25 for this license. You still have the next hurdle: 2. You will need a work permit from the Costa Rica Immigration Department. Why? Because you will be (potentially) taking a job from a Costa Rican citizen. To comply with the work permit requirements, you will discover the fees are substantial (many thousands of dollars is fairly common for professional jobs), the processing time is very long (several weeks or months), and the compliance issues are onerous.
