How can I become a dance instructor?

Most dancing instruction company’s who hire dance teachers either hire them based on experience, and or accreditation such as a degree in dance preferably from a respected dance school. You need you go to a college of performing arts and major in dance. Either that or start dance at a junior college and then transfer to a performing arts college. After that you should try to dance for a professional dance company for a few years. Most schools want someone with professional experience. Not to mention a lot of professional dancers teach dance during the off season when they are not touring to supplement their income. A lot of the dance fields are specialized, into either, ballet, contemporary, or jazz dance, even hip hop to name the major ones. So try to find one you like and specialize in that. The other alternative is to get to know someone who has a school such as a relative, and have them take you under their and learn dance to eventually teach.
