How can I be sure that I will not receive a parking ticket while I’m away from my car paying at a Pay and Display machine?
You don’t need to worry about being down the street purchasing parking when the enforcement officer comes around. This is because all parking locations will be situated within a reasonable, visible distance of a Pay and Display machine and because the parking enforcement officers will know to look at the nearest machine to see if anyone is using it.
