How can I be assured that the Sneads Ferry Village Council will not immediately decide to increase property taxes after incorporation passes?
A- The property tax is only a very small portion of the funds that will go into a budget to provide services and benefits to Sneads Ferry. It should not be necessary to increase taxes in order provide a satisfactory level of services back to our community. According to the NC Dept of Revenue, there are many incorporated cities, towns and villages in our state that are successfully operating at a 5 cent tax rate and have done so for many years. Cedar Point, Bogue, Tobaccoville, Grantsboro, and Trinity are just a few examples places operating with a 5 cent property tax rate while providing the services required by state law.
