How Can I Backpack Europe On A Tight Budget?
My wife and I were on a tight budget when we did this last year. (We are a military family) Here are some things that we did to ensure we stayed within our budget. Use the rail system. Europe has a wonderful mass transit system, use it and get to know it BEFORE you leave. This will save you time and hours of frustration. Ryan Air. ( I think that’s how it’s spelled) This is an incredibly cheap airline that runs throughout the EU. For the most part you can go anywhere in the EU for less than $75. Well you could when we did it. This is a HUGE benefit when you want to skip one or more countries to get to one. The rail pass requires you to pay for each country you go through even if you don’t visit. Stay in hostels. These things are pretty cheap and it’s a great opportunity to meet other people in your situation. (traveling on a budget) Stay away from the tourist locations when you eat. Most of the time all you need to do is walk 3/4 of a mile to find somewhere good and not full of tourist
