How can I assure that my betta fish will get along with my tetra neons?
First of all, I think you already know to ignore “advice” from anyone stating that bettas can not be kept with other fish. Bettas are NOT called “Fighting” fish because they kill anything in the tank with them. Anyone stating this or something similar knows little to nothing about bettas. Bettas do make good additions to peaceful tropical community tanks. As long as tankmates do not have long flowing fins or have “nipping” tendencies, they can be successfully kept with bettas. Neon tetras are one of the best fish to keep with bettas. I would recommend that you have at least a 10 gallon tank when keeping a community tank. Of course, you need a heater as bettas are tropical and require temps in the 78F – 85F range. Tetras should inhabit the top level of your tank. Because they are at the bottom, you should perform a partial water change. Test your water parameters to ensure ammonia and nitrite is 0ppm. In a 10 gallon, heated and filtered tank you can have: 6-8 neon tetras (top), a single
