How can I alphabetize a list using a computer program and which one?
I’m a bit of an evangelist for these guys, since I love the site and use it so much. To alphabetize or sort a list, the easiest thing is to use ‘Sort My List’ at http://sortmylist.com Copy and paste your list in, select ‘A-Z Sort’ (Alphabetize) from the drop down menu, and hit the Sort button. That’s it, you’re done. ‘Sort My List’ provides you with the ability to change your list formatting from comma separated to line separated to space separated, etc. It lets you do ‘Search and Replace’, change your list to upper case or lower case, add line numbers, etc. This is the simplest alphabetizer or sorting program I know of.
The most convenient way is with using Microsoft Excel. Put all the data into a Notepad document with commas separating each value. Then save the document as whatever name you want with a .csv at the end (example: myalphadata.csv). You should be able to run this on Excel and be able to alphabetize it if you look through the options.
