How can Greenville Techs Pharmacy Technician program prepare me for the career?
Greenville Tech’s Pharmacy Technician program is located at the college’s beautiful Greer Campus. Training includes equal portions of classroom and laboratory instruction as well as hands-on experience in an actual working pharmacy. Topics covered include pharmacy law and ethics, pharmacology, commonly prescribed brand and generic drugs, medical terminology, pharmacy clinical/science applications, drug dosage and calculations as well as preparation for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification. What kinds of career opportunities can I expect? A well-trained pharmacy technician can expect to work in a professional environment as an integral part of a health care team. Pharmacy technicians work primarily in franchise drug stores, hospitals, and mail order pharmacies. Job duties include handling customer service, processing prescriptions, compounding, running pharmacy software, maintaining inventory control, handling purchasing, billing and record keeping, and preparing IVs. Topics covered include pharmacy law and ethics, pharmacology, commonly prescribed brand and generic drugs, medical terminology, pharmacy clinical/science applications, drug dosage and calculations as well as preparation for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
