How can fibroadenoma be detected?
Your doctor or radiologist may consider an ultrasound test for you to detect fibroadenoma in your breast. Fibroadenoma can easily be distinguished from other tissue through ultrasound test. The response of fibrous tissue to sound waves is different from other tissues. The ultrasound test will show dark area with defined outline, rounded or oval shaped lump with smooth edges. In case definite result could not be achieved through ultrasound, you may be subjected to MRI (magnetic resonance image). Your doctor may get conclusive and more accurate result by considering needle biopsy. Under needle biopsy the sample of the cells is collected for pathological examination.
