How can errors and omissions be corrected?
A consumer has the right to request an investigation of any information that is incomplete, incorrect and out of date. These requests must be in writing. The credit bureau will send you a dispute form along with your credit report. The bureau must then investigate and verify the information. If the information is not verified within a reasonable time period (30 days), it may be removed by reason of doubt, however, if the information was correct it can be put back on your report at a later time. If data is found to be incorrect, it must be removed.
