How can EMS Systems and Agencies Make Protocol Changes?

0

• Under what circumstances may an EMS System or Agency change the content within the 2009 NCCEP Patient Care Protocols? Individual adult and pediatric treatment protocols may be modified locally by EMS Systems if there is a change in a specific protocol which will optimize care within the local community which adds additional medications or medical procedures, or rearranges the order of care provided in the protocol contained within the “North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians: Standards for Medical Oversight and Data Collection”. If an EMS System or Agency would like to change or add a Protocol to the existing 2009 NCCEP Patient Care Treatment Protocols, the Medical Director must contact Dr. Greg Mears, NC EMS Medical Director for approval before development of the additional protocol(s). Dr. Mears can be reached electronically at gdm@med.unc.edu. • Are the 2009 NCCEP EMS Patient Care Protocols available in an editable version? The 2009 NCCEP EMS Patient Care Treatment Protocol
