How can EMR improve clinical decision making?
Electronic Medical Records provide many tools in order to assist eye care professionals in making better decisions. There is a large variety of diagnosis, prescriptions of medications, treatment plan recommendations etc. PDR-based medication dictionaries are part of most EMR systems. Ease in access of Adverse Drug Event alerts, generic drug recommendations and dosage recommendations are critically important in making clinical decisions, which become better and more educated with having more information about the patient through the integration of external sources such as labs, pharmacies, imaging centers and hospitals.
