How can DBA be used to Bar Code Inventory?
DBA can print inventory labels with bar code. But the real answer is far more complicated. What do you want to do with the inventory with bar coded labels once you have them? You need to consider what DBA function you are trying to perform via bar code scan. Parts in and out of inventory could be PO Receipts, Work Order Enter Finish Production, Issue material to Work Order, Adjustment, Physical Inventory Tag Count entry or Shipment (post invoice). There is more involved in related information than simply parts movement. You would also need Work Order or PO or Sales Order number, transaction date, line number, etc. Consider all the fields required on the screen of the transaction you are trying to scan. You also need to consider whether you are thinking in terms of a DBA Workstation in the parts room for real time transactions or a hand held scanner accumulating data for a later transfer to DBA.
