How can contingency tables be used for predicting the weather?
Before the advent of communication systems such as telegraphs made the viewing of real-time weather data in multiple locations possible, humans had little understanding of weather patterns. During these meteorological dark ages, such tables could be used. Today they have little usefulness due to our much advanced understanding of weather patterns and numerical models that can predict the weather up to a week or more in advance.
