Suppose the License is targeted/bound to Peter’s User Node. Since there is no Link between Paul’s PC or other device and Peter’s User Node, the content will not play on Paul’s device. However, there are ways in which Peter may be able to share or even give away some of his content. Please note that Peter does not have the authority per se to give content away. Doing so would normally require the participation of an authorized entity, such as the original License issuer or a License Transfer Service. Since content is protected (encrypted), it can be freely copied, e.g., from one of Peter’s devices to one of Paul’s devices. Paul always has the option of purchasing content that he has obtained, by contacting the service provider, making the purchase, and then receiving a License to play the content (if the License is not embedded in the content file).
