How can commercial truck drivers help reduce traffic during the closure?
• If at all possible, adjust your schedules so you’re not traveling at peak times. • Allow for extra travel time due to additional traffic. • If you’re slowing down traffic, pull over to let others by when possible. • Pay attention to the electronic signs on the highway and tune in to Highway Advisory Radio for traffic alerts. • Sign up for WSDOT Freight Alerts at www.wsdot.wa.gov/freight • Use 511 and the WSDOT Web site for traffic information. • Be extra cautious and attentive on the highway. There will be more traffic on US 101 and SR 3 and many drivers who are unfamiliar with the curves, speed limit changes, and driveways on this route. • Use SR 3, not SR 106. SR 106 is not a state-approved alternate route. It’s narrow, and more winding than SR 3. • Check load restrictions on US 101 before you go.
