How can Chicago & the Midwest attract more trade & investment opportunities from China?

Thanks to all who have contributed their thoughts so far. I’m extending the period so that more people have the opportunity to contribute perspectives, because I think it’s a very important question. In response to Bing Xu’s pointed question: I have had ideas such as starting a club for people from both countries, and other ideas, but I decided I needed more perspectives because maybe there’s not just one right way. (Marshall’s “welcome wagon” suggestion summarizes very nicely what I’ve had in mind. By the way, there are efforts along those lines in places like LA and NY . . . .) In response to Michael Muth – thank you for highlighting those organizations and efforts you mentioned. They are certainly a part of the solution. The question I have is how they work together with other aspects of the solution, because, as you say, by themselves they are not the whole solution.
