How can cerebral palsy be caused by medical negligence?
Most cerebral palsy claims will involve allegations that there was a failure to deliver a child when there were indications of stress. A delay in delivery of a child may result in the child being deprived of oxygen. This can cause cerebral palsy. In many of our cases we argue that the obstetrician or midwife failed to interpret the CTG trace correctly. This in turn could result in a delay in delivering a child and result in oxygen deprivation. In addition, cerebral palsy may also be caused after delivery of the child due to a number of rasons, including missed bowel obstructions, infections or Kernicterus.
