HOW CAN BUSH NOT BE PRO BEAVER?
Let’s review for a moment. Scientists now agree, human activities influence climate. Global warming is a fact, no longer a theory. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports that the 20th Century was the hottest century in the last 1000 years, and that 1998 was the hottest year in known history. An enhanced greenhouse effect is trapping excessive amounts of heat in the earth’s atmosphere. In the same way glass traps heat in a greenhouse, the so-called greenhouse gases- water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, and ozone, are blanketing the earth raising its temperature. Humans influence the greenhouse effect primarily by burning coal, oil, or natural gas. These products, we commonly call fossil fuels, contain carbon formed millions of years ago. Burning them releases this carbon to the atmosphere in the form of CO2, or carbon dioxide. It is carbon dioxide that contributes the most to this enhanced greenhouse effect. It cannot be denied that cutting
