How can Britain ensure that its universities remain world class?
Britain has just a decade in which to avoid losing its status as a world leader for higher education, the vice-chancellor of Cambridge has warned. Professor Alison Richard told MPs that the quality of education and research in the UK should not be compromised by the drive to increase student numbers. She also predicted that the trend for recruiting foreign students to plug funding gaps could create “a downward spiral” and undermine the quality of UK universities.
