Bio-Alcamid, a ready-for-use injectable prosthesis, can be an excellent alternative to grafts since it is safe, efficient and able to give the same results. I use it for this indication since it facilitates the surgeons work, allows a non invasive procedure. Bio-Alcamid should be used during post-surgical corrections and not during the surgical procedure itself for two reasons: during rhinoplasty we perform a large detachment of the skin and hence, the gel cannot stay in place if injected during the surgical procedure. Second, the infectious risk becomes much more important. As a result, this technique is thus either post-surgical (several weeks later) or a substitute for surgery to correct deficits.
