How can bar codes be used with answer sheets?
When preslugging answer sheets, the process of aligning the pre-printed bubbles over the response areas of the answer sheets can sometimes be a tedious process. Benchmark supports the use of bar codes for student id numbers, which allows a much less critical alignment procedure. In essence, the user simply enables bar code printing when preslugging forms and the student id will be printed in bar code format on the bar code area of the standard answer sheets. When the form is read by the scanner, the ScanTools utility will automatically determine if a bar code is present and use it rather than the bubble student id area. Note however that bar code readers are not standard on OpScan scanners, the customer will have to have the bar code option installed on their scanner in order to use the bar coding feature.
