How can all 3 rock types, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks all be found on 1 mountain? ?
Two continental plates made from sedimentary rocks collide and buckle up to make a mountain range. The pressure melts rocks that can appear through as volcanoes and give rise to igneous rocks. The heat generated from this, can alter the sedimentary and igneous rocks to form metamorphic rocks. All on the same mountain.
