How can access to water and sanitation promote human values?
Obviously, access to sanitation particularly for girls and women is just so important. I was hearing from some women before they had toilets in their houses, they had to go out in the bushes five o’clock in the morning finding the safe place and usually not very safe place and unhygienic conditions. For women who are menstruating and for pregnant women are very difficult and also not water for washing afterwards also cause spread of diseases. We see from open sewerage and pollution in the river here obviously is going to lead to poor health. The links between sanitation, health and livelihood is absolutely fundamental. How governments can ensure rights on water, sanitation and health? Well! I think written in the constitution is the first step but afterwards making it happen and implementing it means working in partnership with service provider whether it is municipality or NGOs but really need to make sure that government is trying to promote their right is absolutely fundamental.
