How can a user see how effective a least squares transformation is?
First, check the residuals in x and y, which are displayed on the results screen to four decimal places. Next check the data displayed under the heading TRANSFORMATIONS MAP ACCURACY STATISTICS. The three values listed under this heading are the Mean Square Error in y, the Mean Square Error in x, and the Root Mean Square Positional Error, all simple map accuracy statistics generated from the residuals.
