How Can a Scool Sign Up for Next Years Geography Bee?
The National Geography Bee, a program of the National Geographic Society, is a nationwide contest for schools with students from grade four through eight. With a first-place prize of a $25,000 college scholarship, the Bee is designed to encourage students to learn and enjoy geography and educators to include geography in the curriculum. Students in schools from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and Department of Defense schools abroad participate each year in the National Geography Bee. Schools that participated this year will be sent registration materials in early September. Principals of schools not previously registered may do so by writing a letter on school letterhead, requesting registration. The letter must be on school letterhead and must be signed by the principal or it will be mailed back to the sender. A registration fee of $30.00 is required. The check should be made out to National Geographic Society and clearly marked for the National Geography B
