How can a recent business graduate get an entry job as a pharmaceutical sales rep?
I haven’t worked for the pharmaceutical industry but have been in close relationship with someone who had a life-long career. He got into the industry by working in the medical supply sales industry, gained experience in sales in general, and refined his techniques there, etc. After being in medical/surgical sales, he then applied at a major pharmaceutical firm and was interviewed and hired. If you can’t get into medical/surgical sales, try working in outside sales at a home health supply store, or inside if that’s what you need to do. What they’re looking for at a major pharmaceutical firm is somebody with a good working knowledge of medical terminology. You don’t have to be a medical doctor, but enough so that you’re not in totally unfamiliar territory with some of the terminology that is commonly used in medical offices and in hospitals.
