How can a new Montessori elementary school be started with current educational cuts?

River Montessori Charter School will receive a substantial federal start-up grant through the CA Department of Education. These are federal dollars that otherwise would not be entering the Petaluma economy. After we begin, our expenses will be covered by what we will receive from the state for each child attending on a DAILY BASIS. Rather than taking away significant revenue from any particular district, our students will be coming from a wide area and some have been outside the public system. By giving parents and students the choice of a public Montessori option, we are likely increasing the total public education revenue for Sonoma County.
