How can a local health jurisdiction contract with a private insurance company to bill them for services to patients for whom they cover? What about children with health insurance from DSHS?
Local health jurisdictions may need to independently contract with health insurers to provide and bill for vaccine services to those who are privately insured. We are not aware of any “blanket” allowance from all health plans that could be used for local health to see patients covered by their plans. Since the state-sponsored health plans and programs are managed by private insurers and not paid for directly by DSHS (unlike the DSHS fee-for-service program), local health may have to contract directly with health plans to receive payment for services to these children as well.
