How can a Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) be extended?
Answer Suppliers should indicate break in service (BIS) information on the claim as explained on page 48 of the December 2006 DME MAC Jurisdiction A Resource. The processor working the claim should extend the CMN based on the information submitted on the claim. For claims that have denied for an expired CMN, suppliers should request a reopening to have the CMN extended.
