How can a blind and deaf person communicate?

0

You basically answered your own question–tactile and braille. I know quite a few Deaf-blind people. Most of them have been deaf from birth, and have gradually lost their sight. (Usher’s Syndrome.) With Usher’s Syndrome, you at least have some time before you lose your sight to train yourself for when you do go blind. I’ve seen the Deaf communicate with Deaf-blind people, hearing people communicate with Deaf-blind people, and even Deaf-blind people communicate with other Deaf-blind people. This is all by signing in the blind person’s hands. This is not done by grasping the blind person’s hand. You just sign normally, and the blind person will feel around your hands as needed. They will all tell you that they have gone through periods of deep depression and lonliness. Thankfully, they have sign language and braille to learn new concepts, and express their feelings and dreams to caring friends and family.
