How can 3rd graders participate in community service?
One of M.P.A.’s school goals is to encourage students to cultivate a sincere attitude of service towards persons both in the school community and beyond. Here are some examples of service projects in which 3rd graders have been involved… 1. 3rd graders and their families have donated to collections of clothing, books, school supplies and food items organized by the Middle School students and the Mothers’ and Fathers’ Clubs. 2. 3rd graders have carried orange collection boxes to trick or treat for UNICEF and help needy children around the world. 3. 3rd graders have been partners for kindergarten students shopping at the Holiday Gift Shop. 4. 3rd graders have written letters and helped assemble “care packages” from our school to members of the previous spring’s graduating class who are now freshmen in college. 5. 3rd graders and their families have donated toys, books and other gifts at Christmas time for children who are patients at Stroger Hospital. 3rd graders have also made bookmar
