How blind are bats???

0

Bats have extremely good sense of hearing and smelling but their eyes are small and poorly developed eyes. BUT it is wrong to say that they are blind. If the distance is too far for their sonar, they may used their sight for long distances. Even some species can see ultraviolet light the species of bats called “flying fox” have excellent sight, basically using sight for hunting.

They “see” using sonar – their brains are capable of building up a 3d image of their surroundings using echoes the way most animals use light. So, in that sense, they are not blind even though their eyes are quite weak. They’ve simply replaced them with another system.
