How big is a ton of co2 or how do you measure it?

The density of CO2 is about 2 kg per cubic meter so a metric tonne of pure CO2 would be about 500 cubic meters or so at surface conditions if I did the calculation right. Obviously, there is no pure CO2 around, so you need to mix it into air at about 375 parts per million (approximately the natural level at the moment)-multiply the volume by one million and divide by 375 to see how much air contains that amount of CO2. If you want imperial units (or US units) do the conversions yourself. I would estimate about 600 cubic yards is one ton of pure CO2, something like that.
