How big is a star close up in space?

0

The size of a star does not depend on how close you are to it. A solar sized star is about half a million kilometers in diameter. There are supergoanst which are several hundred times larger in diameter. In terms of angular diameter, the sun is half a degree in size. If you went ten times closer, it would appear to be five degrees in size. Not that you would care… there is little hope you could survive a solar constant of 150kW/m^2 and the solar radiation at that distance.
