How big are the video scoreboards?
Each video replay board is 27 feet high by 88 feet long — which means each board is roughly three times bigger than the board in Cinergy Field. The boards use “LED” or “light emitting diode” technology, as compared with the older “CRT” or “cathode ray tube” technology. LED products are now being used because they are cheaper, burn brighter, last longer, use less energy, and are lighter than prior products. The boards have very tight spacing between the pixels — each pixel (which is a bundle of diodes) is only 23 milimeters away from the next pixel — which explains why the picture on the boards is so clear and sharp. The boards use a new digital processor as well, which only came onto the market within the last few years. We think the new technology and their size makes them the best video boards in the country.
