How big are the Space: 1999 “Eagles”?
Well, there’s some controversy as to the “real” ship’s length among fans who argue based on “fan material” and other “evidence” which puts them at anywhere from 96 feet long to 120 feet long depending on who you listen to. But these are all wrong when the models themselves are taken into consideration. Since the exterior of the Eagles were represented only by studio miniatures except for one partial exterior doorway set, that’s the only way you CAN discuss correct size. However, there’s an easy way to prove the correct length of a “real” Eagle. The studio models were built in four sizes and scales; 44″, 22″, 11″ and 5.5″ in length. The 44″ model was built in 1/24th scale which equals one half inch to the foot, the 22″ model at 1/48th scale which is a quarter inch to the foot, the 11″ model was 1/96th scale and so on. Therefore, the Eagle, if it were built full size would have to be 88 feet long when you do the math. This is provable, since all the miniature items built to interact with
