How big are the mountains on Mars?
Brandon ANSWER: Hi Brandon, Thanks for the question. The answer is that there are mountains of many sizes on Mars. Most of the mountains that we see are really volcanoes, though. A few of them are really neat because they are so big. There is an area on Mars called Tharsis that has four large volcanoes called the Tharsis Montes. The largest of these is called Olympus Mons. It is 25 km high and over 600 km across. The size of this volcano dwarfs the largest volcanoes on Earth, and is several times taller than Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth.
