How big a deal is it to get the nod for Red Bull X-Fighters in London?
It’s massively important to me. First of all to be recognised as being good enough to represent the country, or at least be the only British rider there. So that’s huge. For me personally, it’s like a door has been opened and I’m going to walk through it. At the moment I’m doing a little exhibition tour to promote the event but after that I’ll go straight back to Belgium, where I live, and start training really hard, mainly with some flip combos. Hopefully I’ll get a few of those together. It will be the biggest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve done big demos and shows before for Red Bull, a lot of stuff with Red Bull X-Fighters Exhibition Tour, but this is X-Fighters for real. It’s the biggest tour in the world and it’s in competition – against the best riders in the world. It’s going to be brilliant. How much of step up will it be competing against guys like Robbie Maddison and Mat Rebeaud? I’ve ridden with all of them in the past and I’m good friends with Mat and Robbie and Andre (Villa).
