You can do a 2 year course in AAT (accounting for young accountants) at college where you will learn accountancy payroll and sage..(computerised accounts) and then you have some options you can either go straight into work as an apprentice or go to university to carry on and go learn about different fields in accounting for example chartered accountant, forensic accountants etc. it depends on the person you are. but if you dont want a lot of debt i would do the 2 year course at college then go get a place in a firm as an apprentice and then you will be getting more experience in the field whilst getting paid. if you wanted to go on to be a chartered accountant you can always take the exams, just get your employer to pay the fees for you.
