How best to maximize lumen efficiency?
Plants ideally require about 2500 lumens per square foot (3000 if you useC02enrichment.) Using the HydroCoil, it is no longer necessary to provide a considerable space between the reflector and the globe, or between the globe and the plants. Because of this, and because heat can be controlled, the entire growing area can be made smaller, making it easier to attain the figures of 2500 or 3000 lumens p.s.f. cited above. You can take more control by attaching the reflector to a pulley so that the light can be raised as your plants grow, whilst keeping the light source as close as possible to the plants. Plants can benefit from a greater light intensity than the sun delivers – using the HydroCoil, it becomes possible to deliver light at these sorts of levels with a SV or MH light without burning the plants.
