How bad is the smoking on a Holland America cruise?
Holland America Line (HAL): Smoking is allowed in cabins, on balconies, part of some lounges and areas of open deck. On the open deck, you aren’t affected by the smoking too much, as one side is for smokers and the other side is smoke free. The worst places are the lounges where smoking is allowed in certain areas and however good the air-conditioning and the ventilation, it is sometimes noticeable. It really depends on how many smokers are on board, sometimes there are very few smokers so there isn’t any problem, other times I have been on a cruise and you would think they were having a smokers convention.
