How bad is food poisoning during pregnancy?

It shouldn’t effect your baby. As long as you stay rather hydrated you and your baby will be completely fine. Just try to replenish the liquids that you are losing. If you do get dehydrated it could send you into labor early. Many times this can be fixed at home with drinking more fluids. However, if contractions start and they can’t be stopped with taking extra fluids then you need to call your OB ASAP. When I was about 30 weeks pregnant with my second child I had some food poisoning. It sent me into early labor. I was contracting every 12 minutes or so for a few hours. I called my OB and she told me to drink more water. After drinking a few glasses the contractions slowed down and then stopped rather quickly.
