How are zoning and planning issues handled in Greenburgh?
The law governing zoning and planning matters for the unincorporated part of the town of Greenburgh is set forth in the Greenburgh Town Code, which applies to all such matters in unincorporated Greenburgh. (The villages have their own village codes). Zoning policy, rulings, decisions, and changes are handled by the seven-member Zoning Board of Appeal appointed by the Town Supervisor. If Edgemont were to incorporate, it would have the right, if it chose, to repeal the Greenburgh Town Code and adopt its own village code. It would also have the right to appoint its own zoning and planning boards, which would consist entirely of individuals who live in Edgemont.
