Web hosting is provided by most hosting companies based on UNIX related platforms, (e.g. Linux or FreeBSD). However, others offer Windows hosting based on Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Your choice will ultimately be decided by what technologies, languages or gadgets you will be using on your site/s. If you need ASP, ASP.NET, Perl, PHP and MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server your best choice would be Windows operating system.
