How are United Way of Rhode Island and United Way of America related?
Our local United Way is an independent, self-governed organization run by a diverse and qualified group of local volunteers from the Rhode Island community. United Way of America is the name of the national organization located in Alexandria, Virginia. Its purpose is to serve and support the nearly 1,400 local United Ways throughout the United States by providing important services, information, and training. United Way of Rhode Island pays dues to United Way of America in exchange for training, research, use of materials, and shared advertising.
