How are therapeutic touch and healing touch similar, and how are they different?
Both therapeutic touch and healing touch deal with the client’s energy field. Additionally, their processes are roughly analogous to the nursing process. Therapeutic touch requires the practitioner to center, assess or scan the client’s energy field, and unruffle or “clear” the energy field to facilitate the flow of energy, treatment, and evaluation. Healing touch requires an initial interview, assessment, documentation of the problem, intervention (which includes therapeutic touch and other techniques), and completion and grounding.
